Genesis 5

Adam's Line to Noah

11 passages

Overview

The "Book of the Generations of Adam" traces the line of Seth through ten antediluvian patriarchs — each born, each dying after centuries of life — until the refrain of death is broken by Enoch, who walked with God and was taken by him, and the genealogy closes with Noah, whose birth his father Lamech hails as the promised comfort from the curse upon the ground, and whose three sons will carry humanity beyond the coming Flood.
