Psalms 146
Trust in God, Not Rulers
Overview
Psalm 146 opens with a personal vow to praise God for one's entire life, warns against placing trust in mortal rulers whose breath returns to dust, pronounces a beatitude upon those who hope in the Creator, celebrates Yahweh's concrete acts of justice on behalf of the oppressed, the blind, the widow, the orphan, and the foreigner, and seals all with the proclamation that God's reign endures forever.
